Even in the 1920s, Frances found that it became more difficult to find scholarship funds as she advanced to higher levels of education. This seemed to her then, as it does to her family today, contrary to common sense. As a student advances and proves himself or herself, funds should become more, not less, accessable. For this reason, the Frances Evans Walker Memorial Scholarship is renewable from year to year as the student continues to advance and accomplish goals.
One of the main purposes of this scholarship is to acknowledge and reward a recipient's achievements and accomplishments. Therefore, this scholarship follows the student throughout his or her educational career. Once a student completes his or her college education, the scholarship will be awarded to a freshman and will follow the new student until graduation.
